FACTOR leads MaaSAI pilot for smart and connected manufacturing
A European initiative driving a new industrial manufacturing model based on AI, IoT and collaborative networks in the cloud.
At FACTOR we lead the transformation of the manufacturing industry through participation in the MaaSAI project, driving a new Manufacturing as a Service (MaaS) ecosystem. This model integrates autonomous agents powered by Artificial Intelligence, Industry 4.0 technologies and a MaaS Cloud Marketplace (CMM), with the aim of increasing flexibility, optimizing production and reducing costs in the metal parts machining sector.
As leaders of Pilot 1, at FACTOR we are developing a pioneering methodology to offer Metal Parts Manufacturing as a Service, applying intelligent and connected tools that optimize processes, improve decision making and significantly reduce operating costs.
Smart solutions for real challenges
The metal machining industry faces significant challenges: high maintenance and machine optimization costs; difficulties in scaling up production; limited access to predictive maintenance and process control technologies; and the need to adapt quickly to changing demands, without compromising required quality standards.
MaaSAI responds to these challenges through a series of innovative solutions:
- Autonomous monitoring cells with IoT sensors for real-time tracking of machine performance, availability and quality.
- Advanced AI-based analytics that assess Overall Equipment Effectiveness (OEE) and propose automatic improvements.
- Secure, data-driven MaaS network, which facilitates efficient collaboration between Mother Factories and Daughter Factories (factories and suppliers).
- Intelligent Consumption and Provisioning Agents, which optimize real-time resource planning and scheduling.
Towards a more agile, connected and sustainable industry
The expected results of the FACTOR-led pilot include a significant reduction in operating costs, greater production scalability, real-time performance monitoring, intelligent decision making and more efficient industry-wide integration.
