FACTOR and ITI are leading MANTRA, an innovative telepresence solution for industrial robotics

A pioneering project that applies Mixed Reality and 5G to improve safety and efficiency in industrial manufacturing environments

At FACTOR we remain committed to innovation that transforms industry. Together with the Instituto Tecnológico de Informática (ITI), we lead MANTRA, a pioneering initiative that seeks to revolutionize industrial robotics through advanced telepresence and remote control solutions. This project combines cutting-edge technologies such as Mixed Reality (MR), 5G connectivity and Wi-Fi interoperability, in order to create safer and more efficient environments in industrial operations where human presence poses a risk.

The initiative is part of the European SPIRIT project, which launched an open call to select pilot proposals capable of validating emerging technologies in real industrial environments. Our joint proposal with ITI, under the title MANTRA (Mixed-Reality Augmented Networks for Teleoperated Robotics Applications), was one of those selected, consolidating the leadership of both entities in the development of cutting-edge industrial solutions.

Immersive telepresence for safer control

MANTRA introduces Mixed Reality interfaces with multimodal feedback (haptic, visual and auditory), enabling intuitive and precise control of robots in industrial environments. Thanks to this technology, operators can interact remotely with their work environment, improving safety and avoiding direct exposure to unnecessary risks.

Real impact on industry

In addition to facilitating the execution of complex tasks without direct intervention, MANTRA will improve production continuity, operational accuracy and the overall efficiency of industrial processes. It also opens up new opportunities in technical training and remote assistance, allowing operators to be trained in realistic virtual environments without compromising their safety.

Thanks to connectivity between 5G and Wi-Fi networks, and data processing at the edge of the network (edge computing), the solution guarantees a seamless, real-time experience designed for highly demanding industrial environments.

Cutting-edge testing

To ensure its effectiveness, MANTRA is being developed and validated in real-world environments. From ITI's laboratories to our own production lines at FACTOR, the technology undergoes rigorous testing to assess its applicability in the industrial sector.
