Factor takes part in validating COGNIBOT in a real industrial environment

The project explores new connectivity, computing and artificial intelligence solutions applied to industrial robotics

Factor’s facilities have hosted tests of the COGNIBOT demonstrator, “Cognitive Networks and Computing for Intelligent Robotics”, a project by the Instituto Tecnológico de Informática (ITI) aimed at developing a private 5G cognitive network architecture that integrates connectivity, distributed computing and artificial intelligence for robotic systems.

During this validation phase, the prototype has been tested to assess its performance, reliability and technical and business applicability. Factor’s participation has enabled the project to incorporate the requirements, constraints and needs of an industrial plant and has contributed to evaluating the solution from a technical, operational and business perspective.

Connectivity and computing applied to industrial robotics

One of the areas addressed by COGNIBOT is the use of private 5G networks to support mobile and collaborative robotic systems, through an infrastructure adapted to the connectivity, mobility and operational needs of an industrial plant.

The project also integrates distributed computing resources that enable applications to be deployed alongside the infrastructure itself, reducing dependence on centralised systems and facilitating real-time information processing.

Natural language to manage infrastructure

The validation phase has also made it possible to assess the potential of conversational systems to assist with the deployment and configuration of infrastructure, as well as with the management of connected applications and devices.

The ability to interact with infrastructure using natural language opens the door to more intuitive, accessible and agile management models. Assistants can guide configuration processes, check the status of resources or facilitate the deployment of services.

The underlying idea is clear: technological complexity should not be passed on to the user. These tools do not eliminate the need for expert knowledge, but they can help reduce barriers to adoption and make advanced technologies easier to manage for industrial SMEs.

Validating innovation in real-world conditions

Participation in COGNIBOT has enabled us to experiment with an advanced solution in our own industrial environment and gain practical insight into technologies with the potential to transform the way we deploy, connect and manage robotic solutions.

The project also demonstrates the value of collaboration between technology centres and industrial companies in turning research into understandable, applicable solutions with the potential to generate real impact.

COGNIBOT is an IVACE+i Innovation project, developed by ITI – Instituto Tecnológico de Informática under the Generalitat Valenciana’s business collaboration programme (IMDEEA).
